The Rimac District Municipality on the occasion of celebrating the Memorial Day
has organized this activity in order to revalue the monumental and tourist district, considered a World Heritage Site. Among its monuments is the Stone Bridge which marks the 400 years of construction, and the Urban Environment Trujillo Jr. Monument in allocating colonial and republican architectural and as the Church of San Lazaro and the Church of Trujillo. UNDP Project No. 00058530, "Preparation Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster and Early Recovery in Lima and Callao "
Lima and Callao are interconnected cities that together house more than 8 million people and concentrate much of the national GDP. The possibility that large magnitude earthquakes occur related to tsunamis is very high, as determined by the recurrence historical and geological disposal. In that sense INDECI and UNDP, with financial support of ECHO, have launched the project in question.
The goal is to reduce the risk of earthquake disaster and / or tsunami in Lima and Callao, through capacity building of disaster preparedness and early recovery regional and national level.
The project has four components:
1. Knowledge of the risks of earthquake and tsunami and information management in relation to the preparation, response and recovery. A study of the seismic risk in the historic center of the Rimac.
2. Operations planning and organization of emergency preparedness, response and recovery strengthened. It will make an earthquake Response Plan for the Historic Center of Rimac, preparatory to the community, drills, signs of safe areas and evacuation routes. Equipment Emergency Operations Center Rimac.
3. Awareness and information on earthquake preparedness and response for Civil Defence Committees and population. Rimac to be completed the training to school emblematic of the historic center in areas of earthquake preparedness and mass media campaign.
4. Capacities for the Coordination of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima and Callao Regional Government for organizing and planning the post-impact response and recovery of earthquake and tsunami.
Also the project is in two areas: metropolitan and district levels. The district areas are: Cercado del Callao, Historical Center Lima (comprising the districts of Cercado de Lima Rimac) and the district of Villa Maria del Triunfo.
