Serna said the Diocese of Ica said the demolition of the shrine for the first days of August without a technical report and without adequate funding for reconstruction, total estimated at 18 million soles. "Apparently the intention is to make a new temple, perhaps with different characteristics, but would lose the essence of architectural monument, a source of identity and religiosity Ica" Serna said Guzman. The legislator was accompanied by architect Miro Quesada Humberto Palacios, restoration specialist, who demonstrated that the action taken by the Diocese of Ica is wrong and goes against the feelings of the faithful iqueños most of whom advocated the restoration preserving its characteristics original.
The 2007 earthquake, which affected several departments, seriously damaged 95 churches between Ica, Pisco, Nasca, Huancavelica, Yauyos but Luer Sanctuary is one of the least was concerned, said the expert.
Palacios said the director of the INC, in contravention of the rules governing administrative action and citing incorrect facts, such an assessment on the property, says the earthquake has affected the foundations of the temple structurally and risk of total collapse.
specialist for the real earthquake is the decision that conflicts of INC which initially advocated for the restoration and subsequently takes the condition of cultural heritage monuments to 5 like, without technical support or report from the relevant direction, leaving unprotected these decisions wrong and biased.
"You must respect the ruling of more than eight thousand citizens who are willing to make a human chain to prevent the destruction of heritage," he said.
of the same opinion were Cayetano José Moquillasa Villavisencio and representatives of the Citizens Committee for the restoration of Luren announced they would collect thousands of signatures.
